Expectations

Please review the following expectations with students.
  1. You need to be on your best behavior.  Better than your day to day behavior.
  2. You need to consistently demonstrate respect for your peers and the substitute teacher.
  3. You should be working the entire class period.  No exceptions.
Failure to meet these expectations will result in severe consequences.  If your name is left by the substitute teacher you can expect a referral and to be held out of any fun, upcoming activities.

On the other hand, if your class receives a 25/25 score for behavior you will receive a reward when I return.  I love rewarding good behavior.

Directions

You have the opportunity to send a piece of your imagination out of our solar system.  Today and tomorrow you will spend time learning about TESS and exoplanets.  Follow all of the directions given to you by the substitute teacher to have something created by you go into outer space.

Wednesday
  1. Pick up white paper from stack on the back counter.
  2. On one side of the paper, write your first/last name, hour, and a Perfect 3 Sentence Answer responding to the question, do you believe there is life on other planets?  Consider that life comes in many forms.  This may not mean intelligent life but could be as simple as plants, bacteria, and single-celled organisms.
  3. Watch Video #1.
  4.  Watch Video #2.
  5. Watch Video #3 by selecting the provided link
  6.  On the opposite side of your white paper, create an artwork of what you think an exoplanet would look like.  Imagine what TESS will come in contact with as it leaves our solar system.  Your artwork must cover the entire page.  You may use the color pencils and markers provided.
Thursday
  1. Continue working on your artwork.  It is due at the end of the hour.
  2.  You will watch 2 videos while you are working.  Video #4 and Video #5 by opening the provided links.  Ensure that you maintain a volume that allows everyone in class to watch the videos.
Monday

When Mrs. Bulman returns, we will scan and upload your artwork to send to NASA.  Your artwork will be loaded onto a hard drive that will travel with TESS as it leaves our solar system and ventures out into our galaxy.
